Fold two colorful paper rectangles into fluttering fan wings, join them with Bibi’s smile, and fly kind phrases (Please, May I, Thank You) to someone special!

Step 1
Decorate two wing papers

Lay both paper rectangles flat. Color them with bright dots, hearts or flowers! Ask a grown-up to write “please,” “may I?” and “thank you” on the wings.

Step 2
Accordion-fold the top wings

Make an accordion fan! Fold a narrow strip forward, flip the paper over, and fold again. Keep flipping and folding back-and-forth like a little paper fan!

Fold the lower wings

Fold the second paper rectangle in the same back-and-forth fan style. Don’t worry if the folds aren’t perfect—every butterfly is unique!

Pinch and bend each fan

Pinch the middle of each paper fan and fold it in half. You now have top wings and bottom wings!

Stack the two pinched fans together. A grown-up wraps the narrow paper body strip around the middle with glue or tape. Draw Bibi’s sweet smile and antennae!
